Nontokozo Manukuza

Nontokozo Manukuza is a Master's student in Computer Science at the University of Pretoria and a research assistant at the Data Science for Social Impact (DSFSI) research group. Their research focuses on helping large language models better interpret isiZulu idioms. By working to improve how AI systems handle indigenous African languages, Nontokozo hopes to make technology more inclusive and relevant to diverse communities. Beyond academia, Nontokozo is deeply committed to community upliftment and youth development. They volunteer at a local orphanage and mentor aspiring young scientists through the Eskom Expo, helping nurture the next generation of innovators. In their free time, they enjoy reading, hiking, and spending meaningful time with family.
