[University of Pretoria] [ML]

I am a Computer Science Honours student at the University of Pretoria, with a research focus on multimodal misinformation detection using text, image, and video fusion. My academic work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and real-world information integrity challenges, and I am particularly interested in how machine learning can be applied to pressing social problems. Alongside my research, I work in IT support at the University of Pretoria's Groenkloof campus, which has given me a practical, hands-on grounding in systems and technical problem-solving. My technical toolkit includes Python, machine learning libraries, and data science workflows, and I am actively expanding into data visualization tools including Power BI. I am drawn to data science as a discipline that bridges rigorous computation with meaningful impact, and I am looking to specialise in it as I progress through my degree. Joining DSFSI represents an opportunity to apply my skills in contexts that matter beyond academia.
