MOOVE: Community-Designed Medical Chatbots Adapted to Your Setting
Large language models (LLMs) are reshaping access to medical knowledge, but their safety and impact in real-world, low-resource settings remain largely untested. The MOOVE platform (Massive Open Online Validation and Evaluation) fills this gap by enabling clinicians and communities worldwide to validate, adapt, and co-own medical AI.
With contributions from over 1,000 clinicians across 100+ countries, MOOVE combines expert review, community validation, and clinical trials to ensure models are grounded in reality, equity, and clinical priorities.
In our recent webinar, Prof Mary-Anne “Annie” Hartley (EPFL & Harvard, LiGHT Lab) shared lessons from developing MOOVE, demonstrated how it works in practice, and extended an open invitation to the South African clinical community to join the global effort.
Key Highlights:
- Contextual Adaptation: How medical chatbots can be adapted for specific communities and clinical settings.
- Real-World Use Cases: Examples from South Africa and around the globe.
- Balancing AI & Clinical Expertise: Insights on integrating AI responsibly with cultural and clinical context.
- Getting Involved: Join the MOOVE initiative at https://jointhemoove.org
